We love to see what unique things our crepe paper artists can do and what they can teach us! This gorgeous paper anemone by Amity Libby of Florabeane is a great example of botanical sculpture. Amity originally shared this in her Studio Florabeane Instagram community. Using Lime Pulp 566 that she dip dyed, Amity recreated with great clarity the ‘Bride de Caen’ variety. Can you make one following her visual guide? First, deconstruction. Such lovely sets of twos and threes a la Fibonacci! Study each layer and the pattern. There are three sets of three, three sets of two, and two sets of one. Once you see that, the flower makes itself

Reconstruction 1-make doublette, rough cut size and shape of petals, rough cut leaves, fringe and make center (trim it to desired shape), fringe and attach stamens.

Reconstruction 2- color and shape petals while still tacky from making doublette (this makes them dry sculpted), fine cut and color and sculpt leaves, add support to attach stem, add the dried sculpted petals in sets (1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3) dipping the ends in hot glue, attach leaves, attach crepe to finish stem. Use #loveflorabeane when you make one!
